Wimbledon Winners (and who broke Ms Wintours steely stance)

Jul 7, 2016

If you are a Brit, then nothing spells summertime
more than Wimbledon (let's face it we can't rely on the
weather for that in the UK ;-)

Wimbledon 2016

For me Wimbledon spells out everything very British;
*tradition (it's still an all white tournament)
*strawberries and cream washed down usually with
Champagne. I am convinced
they really do taste better when eaten at Wimbledon.
For £2.50 (approx $4) for a handful, they had
better taste different (or so my Hubby says ;-)

*matches being rained off at some point
*"proper" behaviour ;-)

What I love about Wimbledon is that the dress code is
very much English garden party;
your summery best (which is slightly different from most
sporting events)

Wimbledon 2016

One person I love looking at to see what she is wearing is
Kim Murray (Andy Murray's wife).
I'm not a huge Murray fan. I am a Federer fan through
and through (especially as I used to watch him and my cousin
having tennis lessons years ago in Switzerland when they
were little boys!)

Anyway I digress (as usual).

I love that she always wears gorgeous dresses and always flies
the British flag with what she wears. I am not
particularly patriotic, but I love that she does
that for British designers.

This year she has chosen some really lovely dresses.
She nearly always has a fab Aspinal bag with her
(and let's not even talk about the luscious locks!)

(From left to right):
i) The gorgeous 'Aurelia' shirt dress by Beulah (a brand favoured by the
Duchess of Cambridge).

ii) Gorgeous smart powder blue lace trench by Burberry

iii) Silk chiffon dress by Burberry (now reduced on Net-a-porter)
and of course her trusty Aspinal London tote bags

Yesterday she was wearing a gorgeous Ted Baker dress which
is one of my favourite so far.
I rarely wear anything floral, but I would definitely
make an exception for this little number.

Others looking gorgeous in their dresses were Pippa Middleton and of
course La Wintour.

i)Pippa wearing a red and grey geometric dress by Tabitha Webb
(one of two dresses by Tabitha Webb that she has worn to

ii)Anna Wintour wearing her trademark shades and
bob, statement jewellery and a light patterned
dress (which looked very Chanel but I may
be wrong).

iii)Pippa wearing a lovely frilled neckline and
ruffle dipped hem dress by Suzannah. This dress
would also be ideal for the races, the polo
or even the Henley Regatta which is coming up soon.

But my favourite image so far of Wimbledon has to be this picture of
"La Wintour" being pecked on the cheek by David Beckham.
I have never seen her without her shades and her ice-maiden
stance. But I guess if anyone can break that steely demeanour, it had to be him.

Wimbledon really is a great event for getting dressed up, meeting up
with friends and generally letting your hair down (but with a certain
decorum ;-)

Are you a Wimbledon fan?
Do you have a favourite sporting event that you attend?
As always love to hear your thoughts
