What Colour Are You?

Being a Psychologist, and now a jewellery designer, I am intrigued by what colours say about a person, and how they see the world.

I am intrigued by the insight you can gain from simple questions about colour; viewing the depths of the person, and seeing the coloured glasses they view themselves through.

I saw this questionnaire (I'm really sorry I can't remember where!) and I have adapted it slightly to learn a bit more about the lovely people who follow my blog.
The original questionnaire was very long (about 50 questions) but I've condensed it as I know time is of the essence for most of us. So I have listed about 15 "adapted" questions below, and will do some others during another post.

Do take a few minutes to play in the hope we can learn more about each other; it's just a few minutes of fun. My answers are in bold italics.

1) What’s your favorite colour?
Deep, rich purple

2) What’s your least favorite color?
Brown (any shade!)

3) What comes to mind when you think about your favorite color?
Rich jewels

4) How does this color make you feel?
Warm,rich, opulent

5) Has ______ always been your favorite color?
From about age 30

6) What does color mean to you?
Beauty, happiness

7) How do you use color in your daily life?
Usually with my jewellery, a good scarf, a small accessory

(Jewellery available from Luxuria)

8) Are you comfortable letting someone else choose the colors you live in? the colors you wear? Perhaps to live in, but not to wear

9) Is it difficult for you to make decisions involving color? If so, why?
No! In fact I had my colours professionally done about 20 years ago, so I know what suits me and what to steer clear of

10) Would you paint your bedroom your favourite colour?
No, but I have used my favorite colour for accents in the past

11) If not, what color would you choose? Why?
Purple would be too heavy in a summer climate. My current bedroom is a soothing Duck Egg Blue

12) What was the last purchase you made based heavily on color?
A bag from Loewe

13) What color was that purchase?
Black and cream

14) What drew you to that color?
It's classic versatility

15) What color do you most like to wear?
Black

p.s for those of you pulling your hair out thinking I've spent "colour" wrong, I haven't. Blame it on my Britishness ;-)

    Bold, Royal Purple

    2) What’s your least favorite color?
    burnt orange

    3) What comes to mind when you think about your favorite color?
yards and yards of gorgeous silk

    4) How does this color make you feel?
    sexy, luxurious, confident, mysterious

    5) Has ______ always been your favorite color?
    Indeed!

    6) What does color mean to you?
    Passion, Love, Beauty, Life

    7) How do you use color in your daily life?
Accessories, clothes, sometimes with polish, but I adore using brooches most of all.

    8) Are you comfortable letting someone else choose the colors you live in? the colors you wear? Definitely not that I wear, but if they were warm, calm, neutral colors than where I live would be fine.

    9) Is it difficult for you to make decisions involving color? If so, why?
Not really. For me color is one of the easiest decisions to make. And if you change your mind, you can almost always change the color easily. (on large things such as a car, though, I stay neutral for flexibility)

    10) Would you paint your bedroom your favourite colour?
No but royal purple is incorporated in a variety of ways.

    11) If not, what color would you choose? Why?
I like to accentuate with color so for my bedroom I like it to be warm and neutral. Right now it's a very soft and light sage green color.

    12) What was the last purchase you made based heavily on color?
    Cynthia Rowley dress

    13) What color was that purchase?
    Olive & Copper tinted Brown

    14) What drew you to that color?
I've never owned anything that color & couldn't resist.

Most like to wear? Royal Purple. Most often wear? Black

  3. @JennieB-thanks so much for playing, and how funny we both love the same colour. Loved your answers, but surprised you hate "burnt orange" but bought a dress with copper hints ;-)
I love your answer for no.3 "yards and yards of gorgeous silk" (why didn't I think of that?)
Thank you so much for taking the time to play. What do you think it says about us that we love rich purple? Deep down we are quite extrovert? Like to be noticed? Not traditionalists? Very warm individuals? Very visual individuals? A little decadent/opulent.........?
Thank you so much for playing.

  4. @Tabitha
I know exactly what you mean about Loewe. I live very near a huge store here in Spain, and I have to pass it nearly every day. It's been lethal on my credit card, so now I have to find ways to detour to get to where I need to go. It doesn't help that on my detour I now pass Carolina Herrera and Bimba & Lola!! What's a girl to do?

Of course, purple does have a very Gothic, mysterious feel to it (I had forgotten this). Good on your for having the courage to paint your bedroom purple; I bet it was very sultry and cosy. And of course purple is the color of Dairy Milk. How could I forget?

  10. @Beth. Another "purple Princess!" I didn't know there were so many of us ;-)
Love your answers; it seems despite our love of colour, most of us enjoy wearing black. Are we just not brave enough to wear our colour? Or is it too much to use every day? I love your answer for #13 and #14; gorgeous, succulent black grapes.
Yes, you are right about Electric Yellow; not a colour I own anything in also.
    Thank you for playing Beth.

  12. Oh, this is so much fun Vanessa! It's 1am and I'm catching up on blog reading so I won't be answering the 15 question because quite honestly I can't remember the last thing I bought that pertained to color.

I love pink, red and aqua but not for jewelry, they are fun colors but I wear a lot of neutrals and the classic black & white. I would only paint a room in my homep ink if I was expecting a baby girl and even then it might be a bit too predictable. ;)

BTW-I have a new blog button, feel free to replace the old one in your sidebar if you like. :)

    Happy Weekend!

  14. Thanks Vanessa! :) I've actually asked my designer to remove the little white corners, I/we didn't notice it being that I have a white blog background but for colored backgrounds, it looks a little funny. I've done a bit of sidebar re-arranging but yours is back in my sidebar also. I rotate a few in my friends section regularly. :)
