The Versatile Blogger Award

Well dear friends, first a HUGE thank you for all the comments made on my previous post. My Business Coach has literally been salivating reading them, with that "told-you-so" glint in her eyes.

The majority of comments did say they would like to see occassional jewellery posts, so that's what I am going to put my mind too ;-)

Thank you all though for the honesty with which you all answered, and for caring enough to help and give me your views.

OK, now also this week I was awarded my first award. Yaaaaay! Never had a blog award before, so this was my own little Emmys party (sans dress!).

I was awarded this by the lovely Ivana over at Style in the City

I haven't known Ivana very long, but we have become good buddies; she has helped me with my technical queries about blogger, we tweet each other, and more than anything she has such a lovely sweet nature.

So I have to tell you 7 things about myself, and then nominate some bloggers to pass this lovely award onto.

So here are my 7 things you may, or may not know about me:

* I am a germ-a-phobe. No really, it's true. I won't even touch the handle of a public building without a Medi-wipe in my hand. And if you want to watch me go into dramatic convulsions, just stick me on the London Underground during rush-hour in Winter when everyone is coughing and spluttering;my absolute worst nightmare

* I have a mind like an annonyingly absorbant sponge, that retains the most useless trivia you can imagine, only to be regurgitated at the most in-opportune, and often hilarious times.(Sometimes I wonder if I have a form of Aspergers!) The thing is I can never remember when or where I read these useless bits of information; it just appears. However everyone wants me on their team when playing Trivia Pursuit though!

*many of my friends (not close friends) in the UK had no idea I was a Criminal Psychologist. My job title could be a real conversation killer especially at social functions. Suddenly no one wants to speak with you for fear you are analysing them or, you have sussed the little fibs they are spouting out! A few of my high-flyer friends would introduce me as "just a secretary". It was great seeing those same faces when I told them the truth upon leaving the industry ;-) Needless to say they weren't close friends ;-)

* I hate "wet" food; I mean food with lots of gravy, liquid etc such as stews, casseroles etc. I just can't eat them. I don't know whether I had a bad childhood experience with gravy when younger ;-) Or maybe it was the revolting school dinners I was forced to endure;I don't know. But if you want to see me leave your dinner party swiftly, just serve me something like Beef Stroganoff or some kind of Goulash.

*I got married on the wonderful island of Maui, and dream of one day owning a little "beach shack" (I'm not greedy!) there.

*I am a trained Cordon Bleu "chef" ("chef" sounds really prententious, but I can't think of another word to use. "Cook" sounds like the word used to describe people who cook in schools or prisons!) One of my favorite holidays was a 2 week cooking course in Tuscany, Italy

* I hate shopping and practically by everything I possibly can on-line. I can now buy fresh produce from my local farm on-line too. So I am really happy now.

I´ve been asked to give this award to up to 15 bloggers I love and I´ve chosen the following 7 fabulous ladies I read. I've tried to choose some "old friends" and some newer followers as a way of them introducing themselves to us, and as a way of supporting some new bloggers (well new for me, perhaps they have been blogging for years ;-)

i) Tabitha @Bourbon and Pearls
ii) Lillian @Lillian Harlow
iii) Amateurian @Amateurian
iv)Simone @Ironing Basket
v)Barbara @Hampton Hostess
vi) Looking Fab in your Forties
vii) A Brit Greek @mybigfatgreekmove.blogspot.com

Just in case, these are the official rules:

-Thank the award-giver and link back to them in your post.
-Tell your readers 7 things about yourself.
-Give this award to up to 15 recently discovered bloggers.
-Contact those bloggers and tell them the exciting news!

Can't wait to read all your responses!

  1. Thank you! I hate shopping too, going round the shops all day is my idea of hell, and you made me laugh because my Dad absolutely hated 'wet' food and blamed it on school dinners!
And wow, you are also trained cordon bleu cook? Phew, you had a lot of strings to your bow.

  6. Ah thank you for the award darling! I love gravy dinners and shopping even though I do most of it online, although I do find my feet start to kill and I get really hot in shops, other than that, I'm fine!

  8. Dear Vanessa,

  9. Thank you so much Vanessa :) I look forward to coming up with some bits and pieces to share, thanks so much for thinking of me! I've never been "tagged" before :)

You would have to be one of the most accomplished women I've ever "known"... I would with a woman in the office (not part of our business) who is a "Profiler" (mostly used in the corporate environment) and you're so right about people being terrified of what she's deducing about them etc. Perhaps I'm too simple of a person to worry (because I have no skeletons in the closet), because I think she's fascinating to talk to!

  11. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve this award! What did your coach have to say about this???

Think you made my week gorgeous gal, so thank you for my award too!
I'm reading all these interesting facts about you and I so remember the one about you being a criminal psychologist... as you know I am such a CSI nut, I would loved to have been a Crime Scene Analyst in a previous life!
I also wouldn't mind a beach shack too, that was my childhood dream with another bff! Am working on it though!
Would love to swap minds with you one day, the only thing my brain absorbs with mighty power is anything fashion related/phone numbers/dates... unlike trivia or History, I once nodded off when Mr. Perseus talked Greek history, eek!

Will have to check out the other blogger over the weekend!

  12. Hey! thank you wonderful friends. No I am certainly not anything special (Fiona, don't you DARE think like that!) just a "change junkie" as Hubs frequently tells me; nothing more!
Can't wait to read the responses of those I selected ;-)
Great to see a few of us hate "wet" food. I have never meant anyone else with this "quirk" before ;-) Great to know I'm in good company x

  13. Just wanted to clarify some points:
    * I have NEVER worked as a chef. I simply did the Cordon Bleu course as a hobby. Trust me, Gordon Ramsey would not be breaking out in sweat to get me to work in his kitchen- far from ;-)
    * the trivia I seem to absord, is nothing remotely intelligent, but pure nonsense most of the time. Other than making people laugh, it has not use whatsoever;complete "drivle"! x

loved learning a little more about you!! Wishing you a wonderful blessed week, xo HHL

  15. Hi lovely Vanessa! It's good to be back in blogland after a very busy August and September getting home and studio settled after moving. But I am BACK with the Season Premiere of the Fall Season of the Blog today and it feels good! I've missed my buds and I LOVE this post. Actually, I love all of your posts because you talk about such interesting things, but it was very fun finding out little tidbits about you. I'm a bit of a germaphobe too! If someone sneezes I hold my breath till I can walk away (funny) and also refrain from touching doors or visiting sick friends that are contagious. Ewww ;) Congratulations on the Award! xo

  17. Vanessa,
Did you change your About Me? For some reason, it caught my eye today.

We have several things in common except for the cat phobia. I really like cats.

I used to love Charlie's Angels, and am even DVR'ing the new one. It's on here in America now.

I've added you to my sidebar now so that I can easily see your new posts. Hate to admit it, but things get lost in my dashboard now because there are so many blogs in there, and I have limited time even though it is getting better on Tuesday and Thursday with some time alone.

You will also have to e-mail me about your Diana run-ins.

Like the way you are doing the "sold" area, BTW.

    You represent some gorgeous designs.

    Leigh
