Hello! Ripping off a parking fine to discover that it's only a "Polite Notice", finding the spare key in my handbag when I think I've locked myself out of the house (again!), and just ONCE, choosing the fastest moving queue at the supermarket. Small pleasures can be the sweetest.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! Let's see here....what little things make me happy?
ReplyDelete~ A hot cup of coffee with a little full-fat cream every morning (drinking one right now and it IS making me happy)
~ Fitting into previously too big pants - and they're not tight.
~ Not having to worry about perfectly painted toes now that it's cold out.
~ Seeing one of my elderly clients smile and/or laugh
~ Picking up ordered books and movies at the library
~ A good hair day
I have more, but I won't go on and on....
Thank you for giving me an excuse to see all the happiness in life. Hugs, Adrienne
This is an awesome post. Great job But, where is your jewelry piece. Ha! Ha! (Business marketing, remember :)) It's so funny that you titled your post that because I may title a future post that as well because I need to write a gift I received from the Happiness Project a couple of months ago.
ReplyDeleteLove the snow photo, and I'm right with you on the luggage. I breathe a sigh of relief everytime. Love Grease, too and ABBA.
So much in common.
Beautiful photos!! and your list is fabulous...What makes me happy?
ReplyDelete~ being able to help bring a smile to someone else's day
~ cuddling up with our furbaby Dolce
~ seeing our furbaby Stella running freely outside around the property
~ sharing our home with friends
Thanks for making me take the time to remember some of the things that make life great!! xo HHL
@Celia-I would add to your list darling "Happiness is seeing how far I have come, and how I have done it with such dignity and optimism". xx

ReplyDeleteYou are too sweet Leigh. As I posted about jewellery 2 weeks ago, I thought I wouldn't push my luck :-)
Yes, Grease and Abba! You and I could have a party with just the two of us there :-)
@Adrienne-thank you for popping over Doll. I know how busy you are lately. I am so jealous of one of the things on your list; "fitting into previously too big trousers". One day, maybe ....
ReplyDelete@Sulky Kitten
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for popping over and what a great list.I'm right with you on the parking fine notice. Don't you just want to whoop really loudly in the street when that happens?
Taking loved ones out of the equation... hMmm I'd say...
ReplyDelete- That moment when I get home from work after a long day and I have a quick shower and jump into my PJ's (especially on cold winter nights.
- Falling asleep on Friday night, knowing that the alarm will not wake me in the morning and that the entire weekend is ahead of me.
- Fitting back into a piece of clothing that had gotten too small (because I had gotten too big.
- Rediscovering an old purchase that I had forgotten all about and still love - then wearing it!
- Receiving praise from someone professionally for a job well done etc.
- Seeing a debt decrease, or our savings increase.
I could keep going, but these were the first things that came to mind right now!
Awww. You snow photos almost got me excited about the coming winter...then I had another sip of coffee. : ) I love your list. I would add:
ReplyDeletePopcorn with sharp cheddar cheese
Antique shopping
Bookstore perusing
Lazy afternoon in a favorite art museum
Long walk (in Vibrams)
A great haircut
Accomplishing a "to do" list--with time to spare
xxBliss
A great post, and a reminder to think about what makes us happy. For me, it's:
ReplyDelete1. A great cup of coffee with real cream
2. Finishing the crossword puzzle
3. Making pretty Excel spreadsheets to wow people
4. My husband groaning with delight when he eats a meal I prepared.
5. A clean house
6. A cat sleepin on my lap
7. Great intellectual conversation with knowledgeable people.
8. A beautiful glass of wine
Hi Vanessa! I loved your list of happiness. When I really stop to think about it there are so, so many things that make me happy. Here's a few:
ReplyDelete1. When my daughter says "Mom, I love you"
2. The sound of my hubby putting the key in the
door after a hard nights work. I Know he's
home.
2. Cuddling with my dog.
3. When I stop for a moment to enjoy the beauty
outside.
4. A cup of hot tea and a good book or a stack
of fashion magazines.
5. Enjoying laughs with my sister.
6. When hubby cleans up the kitchen after supper
7. Doing something to help another
8. Talking with friends
My favorite Christmas movie is also "It's A Wonderful Life". We all sit down and watch it together, a Christmas tradition.
I enjoy the way you get people thinking!
It's fun.
Dee xx
a hot bubble bath and glass of champagne!
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Vanessa! That first photo is gorgeous and I...want..those...shoes!
ReplyDeleteAs for what I'd add, I'd say playing with my dogs and flowers that smell pretty ;-)
Baking bread and seeing it actually rise, seeing my basil plants flourishing, watching baby goats chase each other, my man reaching for me in the night even when he's sleeping, sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee, laying down for an afternoon nap and actually falling asleep, a dear friend surprising me with potato wedges topped with gravy, a letter or parcel in the mail, walks in the rain. Thank you for "making" me think of such beautiful things today. :-) xo
ReplyDeleteOMG! You are all so darn creative!
ReplyDelete@Lillian-I love your first point; so true and so me.
@Bliss: Gosh why didn't I think about a great haircut. It is so rare, it is the epitome of happiness for me
@Dee:I LOVE your point about hearing the key in the door and knowing hubby is safely home; so beautiful and so you x
