I don't usually post videos on my blog, but I saw this
this week and it really resonated with me
Take just 3 minutes to watch this (the same time it takes
to boil your kettle for a cuppa)
I hope it resonates with you in the same
way ;-)
I would love to hear your thoughts.
While I understand the point being made...I would argue that sometimes the cup does make the coffee taste better. We just have to choose wisely, and kindly.
ReplyDeleteTYSM Jackie for your perspective :-)
DeleteHave a lovely weekend xx
Absolutely beautiful Vanessa...I've watched it twice now...it certainly resonates with me too...I've always believed that the happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing it.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Catherine
xx
TYSM Catherine for your lovely comments. Enjoy your weekend in gorgeous London x
DeleteI feel guilty because I collect pretty cups! I now have 20 "special" cups, so that makes me a total cup slut! Shame on me. Seriously though, I know what you mean - I just try and be grateful for everything that I have because I will never forget the days long ago when I was a lot less fortunate. I loved that music as well - very calming. Have a lovely weekend Vanessa!
ReplyDeleteLOL. TYSM SK. Your "cup slut" phrase made me laugh.
DeleteNothing wrong collecting lovely cups; you clearly got the message of the vid ;-)
Have a lovely weekend Sweets xx
This is a great video, Vanessa. I don't always choose the prettiest cup, but I choose the biggest. Wonder what that says about me? I'm from the Friends TV show era when it comes to coffee in those big oversized mugs. The message behind this was really, really good. We need to catch up soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely birthday.
TYSM Leigh. I'm also from the Friends era; I do have a thing for pretty mugs I must say.
DeleteBirthday was lovely. TYSM Leigh xx
Vanessa, I loved this. It is such an awesome message and an important one and one I needed to hear. With my divorce a major lifestyle change is in the works. I'm going to end up losing my family home, going to have to down size to something much smaller, losing a lot of financial security. What good is it all if I'm in a marriage that makes me terribly sad and unhappy? However small my new place may be, I will fill it with the people and things I love. Thanks for the reminder. xo
ReplyDeleteYou will survive Debby because you are a survivor, and have the ability to make the smallest places so beautiful. That beauty comes from your heart Sweets xx
DeleteThis was really interesting. I have a collection of pretty tea cups.

I agree though,it's whats in the cup, not what it looks like. Although it is nice to have a pretty cup.
TY for stopping by Rachel. Hope you won't be a stranger :-)
DeleteHi sweety, hope your week has gotten off to a good start. thanks for posting this lovely video, I hadn't seen it before and I am really inspired by it. I am also a collector of coffee mugs, this is an interesting perspective with deeper meaning.
ReplyDeleteHI Sweet Sam
DeleteWeek has got off to a good start. Like you I do like a pretty mug. Pretty is OK ;-)
xx
What a beautiful video and sentiment, Vanessa. It reminds me of how happy we are as children, not mindful of possessions as much as really looking at the things we come across in our daily lives and dreaming ... picking that four leaf clover there in the grass and marveling at it, noticing the smells in the air, playing outdoors from morning till night ... then, we become adults and it seems we are working working working all of the time for more and more possessions. I have nothing against possessions. And I do feel that some do contribute to more opportunities for happiness (i.e. a larger house, for instance, may allow you to have get-togethers with your family that you love so much more often and more pleasantly) but we can't forget the beauty along the way. You always give us something to think about, sweets. xoxo

TYSM Sandy. You are SO right.
DeleteSince living in Spain, I've lived with half the possessions I have in the UK, and I couldn't be happier. My home is much smaller than my place in London, but the friends that have filled it will never be forgotten, and are the best possessions I have (apart from Hubs of course) . Have a lovely week sweetheart xx
Such an amazing message in that movie... I watched it and thought about what I would have picked... so important! Thanks for posting!

No sweetheart.TY so much for teaching me what real selflessness is xx
DeleteHi Vanessa! Wow what a powerful message in that video. We do need money to survive, but really what good is all the money and the finer things in life without the very small things that truly make us happy, and most of the small things in life that make us happy get overlooked. Like love, kind words, family, and friends....these things are all free. Watching the video I was thinking about what cup I would choose and the funny things is...I would have chosen the paper or cardboard cup, because I my coffee taste better in those kind of cups.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such a wonderful video.
Dee xoxo
My pleasure. I'm so pleased it got us all thinking :-) xx
DeleteDee, me too, a much 'warmer' experience all round!
DeleteVanessa, this is such a beautiful and meaningful video! It got me thinking...I can really relate to the words that happy people are those who make the most of what they have. Such a beautiful perspective! I hope your week is going well!

We'll have to have a curry some time in London some time, oh ...when are you moving back?
ReplyDeleteOooh! would love to meet you for a curry Tabs ;-)
DeleteI finally found time to watch this, so funny, I have a cupboard full of Starbucks paper cups, I love drinking out paper and much prefer it to "cold" porcelain, even when I'm sitting in, I always say "paper cup please not china)
