No Weeds in this Garden!

Oct 30, 2011

We are absolutely thrilled to have found the wonderfully, talented designer Zelda Wong to join our site and feel very honoured she wants to showcase her pieces in our boutique.

The collection we are showcasing is called Winter Garden, and I think the sheer beauty and precision of the pieces speak for themselves.

This gorgeous Garland ring only went on-line
last night. I happened to tweet about it, and this
morning my Inbox was full of enquiries and
orders!!

This Garland pendant is one of 2 gorgeous variations.

Zelda is originally from Macau but has lived in the UK for some time. Her inspiration comes from her love of the English countryside and typical English country gardens.
Her designs of these botanical forms encapsulates the beauty of the flower and plant.

Aren't these Lily drop earrings divine?

Every piece of jewellery is individually hand-made in her workshop in the UK (and all product materials are only sourced within the UK).

She is also the winner of the Loumin Design Innovation Award (2009).

These stunning drop earrings are based on the Winter
Eucalyptus plant. How stunningly original are these?
The matching pendant is just below.

This is the gorgeous Eucalyptus pendant that can be
matched with the earrings above. Every leaf is individually
handmade and pierced onto the stem; exquisite!!

Her designs really are stunning, exquisite, delicately feminine and really unique.

The rest of the Winter Garden Collection is showcased in our boutique.

As a special introductory offer to my blog followers only, I am offering a 15% discount on any piece from the Winter Garden Collection along with FREE International shipping (what has possessed me!?) Please e.mail me to utilise the discount.

This offer will end on Sunday 6 November 2011

Spanish Sparkles

Jun 3, 2011

OK, some of our Twitter friends already know about the wonderful Spanish designer
who has joined our boutique. But for those of you not on Twitter (and there are many!) here goes:

The wonderfully talented designer Carlos Madirolas joined our boutique about one month ago. As you can see from the images below, his designs are very contemporary, and so fit in perfectly with our niche. He has worked in Ibiza and Menorca taking much of his inspiration from these beautiful Spanish islands. But now his workshop (which is like an Aladdin's cave for me) is in Madrid. All pieces are made with Silver,24k Gold and semi-precious stones.

Just take a look at the images below.

It was seeing the ring on the left which resulted in me contacting Carlos re a collaboration. I just fell immediately in love with this ring. The gems used are, amtheyst, garnet, olivine, blue topaz http://bit.ly/jxrBu4

Gorgeous rings again using amethyst, garnet, olivine and blue topaz; you choose the stone you want when you order.http://bit.ly/iGGeYw

Absolutely LOVE this ring with my favorite stone http://bit.ly/iQiJlt

These lovely square rings really look gorgeous on the hand. It's just different to the normal round stones, and consequently these are the designs that are most popular since we have started selling them http://bit.ly/iet2mC

So what do you think? Am I raving for nothing? I would love to hear your views.
As a special introductory offer (you know how I love giving discounts-I will never be rich!!) we are offering 20% discount on ALL Carlos Madirolas pieces. Offer ends on Sunday 19 June 2011. Just enter code: CM06 on your order form.

Valentines Best-sellers!

Feb 15, 2011

This is just a very quick post to keep you all posted with what sold best over Valentines (lots of lucky ladies out there today!!)

Of course these are an obvious choice, and this colur and the gun-metal grey (the same ones that are the 2nd prize in our competition) sold very well.

Many of these bracelets were bought with the names of both of the couple engraved on the discs. This is one of my favs for an occassion like Valentines.

Of course Stacking rings are very popular now, so it was inevitable that these would sell well. A great choice as the recipient can add to them as she pleases.

We also sold quite a few of this gorgeous solid silver cuff, which has been designed using real buttons. This will certainly make a girl stand out from the crowd!

Thankfully the men in our lives weren't forgotten either!

There you have it!
Don't forget tomorrow is our competition draw, so keep your eyes peeled. Good luck to all my lovely friends (I wish you could ALL win something!)

Christmas with Luxuria!

Dec 5, 2010

OK, I feel very guilty for neglecting my blog over the last few weeks, but things have been crazy at Luxuria HQ leading up to Christmas. I'm not complaining, but it has meant that i) I haven't been able to follow some of the fab blogs I usually read, ii) all my creative juices have been completed zapped in the manicness of the Christmas rush, and consequently iii) I haven't had any inspiration for my own blog.

So I thought I would share with you some of the things that made me smile at Luxuria HQ this week.

These have definitely proved to be our best seller for Christmas. They have been flying out the "cyber door". The most popular is the 3 stone ring although I personally prefer the 2 stone ring (but I know I am in the minority on this one).

I know these two versions of beautiful solid silver cuffs that we sell will be in quite a few stockings this Christmas. Needless to say that it has been mostly men that have purchased these over the last month!

A few luck ladies will also be receiving this gorgeous necklace on Christmas morning. This necklace is the most expensive item we sell in our boutique, and again all purchases were made by men (some lucky ladies out there!)

OK, no need to feel neglected chaps, as many lovely ladies have purchased these gorgeous solid silver cufflinks. I personally hate insects (especially wasps!), but these are really, really classy, yet with a modern twist.

Finally I'm just deciding which earrings to wear on New Years Eve? It's the night when "plain" just won't do; it's the night to be a Diva and proud of it! I'm still undecided though-what do you think?

OK, that's it for this week. I hope to get one more post in before I go off on my Christmas hols.Hope you are all enjoying the lead-up to Christmas and your shopping isn't proving too stressful.
Happy December Lovelies!!!!

Renowned NY Designer joins Luxuria!!

Oct 27, 2010

Well, it's been a few weeks since my last post; life suddenly became super busy. But I am so excited to announce that a new designer has joined Luxuria. New York designer Victoria Tillotson's beautiful pieces can now be seen on our website (www.luxuria-jewellery.com)

Victoria and I connected by chance as neither of us have a typical jewellery designer background (both of us have academic/science backgrounds). I guess neither of us imagined that there would be another scientist interested in contemporary/modern jewellery.

Victoria's designs have been showcased in Allure, InStyle and Lucky magazines, as well as adorning the earlobes of a very famous MTV Diva!!!!

She is also the author of 'Chic Metal-Modern Metal to Make at Home' and has contributed to many other jewellery and jewellery making books. Now you can understand why we are so honoured that she has joined us.

Just take a look at some of her gorgeous earrings (all are available from Luxuria).

Silver hammered double hoops with 12 sparkling gemstones in rich purple Amethyst and black streaked tourmalated Quartz.

A sparkling cascade of 5 hammered silver mini squares, accented with a faceted Aquamarine stone. Earrings are 3" (7.5cm) long. These would look fab at a Christmas celebration/party. One of my favorites!!!

These earrings are absolutely DIVINE, and so unusual.Gorgeous hammered silver with Iolite gemstone.

These are the "famous" MTV Diva earrings!!

I am definitely buying these. They are hammered into an organic pomegranate shape (perfect for Fall/Autumn). Gorgeously
discreet enough to wear during the day without looking like a Christmas tree.

So there you have a sneak view of Victoria's designs. More can be seen on our site, along with all the prices.

As a special promotion we are offering FREE shipping for any one of Victoria's designs, from now until Thanksgiving Day (offer ends on Thanksgiving Day)

Would love to hear your views on this collection.

What the hell is this?

Aug 2, 2010

In our jewellery boutique, many of the designs can be bought in both silver and in rhodium-plated. So this is a question that I am asked often, "what the hell is rhodium-plated?"

OK, so let me try and explain why in some instances I recommend buying rhodium-plated over silver, even though silver is more expensive (without going into the chemical compounds etc.)

Rhodium is a precious metal which is a member of the platinum family.Rhodium electroplating is used on many of our pieces because it provides a surface that will resist scratches. This can't be said for silver; silver fades with time, the shine goes quickly and because it is a much softer metal than silver, it scratches easily. This is the reason, when I am asked by a client (especially if the client is buying a ring)I recommend the rhodium-plated version rather than the silver version (even though the silver version is often more expensive).

Rhodium-plating doesn't last forever, and depends on the level of wear, but is something that can easily be "re-touched".

In many cases both silver and platinum pieces are rhodium-plated because it gives that extra shine that we all love. Whenever I buy silver or platinum pieces that are likely to get a lot of wear, I go and get it rhodium-plated first. My wedding ring is platinum, but I have since had it rhodium-plated. It now looks shinier than on my wedding day!

My girlfriends and clients are always asking me how I keep my pieces so shiny! So now my secrets out!
